DEUTSCH

(Mid)Summer 2005 (HIGH PULSE release 002)

Entire Berlin wears pink, turquoise and mint and is surfing on the new German wave. Entire Berlin? A small sworn in fraternity of drum and bass soldiers is offering resistance and disturbs the long lasting lethargy under the flag of the “Amen”_Breaks. The command HIGHPULSE lead by general Dose D –veteran of the jungle wars of the early 90s – is fighting the green desert and chops the break beats with the machete, until the raw cuts bluntly gleam and interlock perfectly. They peel, they grind, and they polish. But only on the surface; beneath, everything stays nicely dirty because it is back in the sticky streets of the capital: the machine funk.

After last years opening attack and the following permanent fire in the clubs of Berlin the sequel with the No. 002 is out: SCHLAG. Ladies and Gentlemen, they mean it for real - two new fire bombs are in the mailbox.

SOULFIRE opens with ice-cold Synth Stabs, while a sonar measures the depth of the room and lets the tune slide into a slightly cold roller - underwater feeling inclusive. A strong old school boa constrictor strangling bass circles around James Brown and Chuck D, who are trying hard to hold their heads above the surface. No fear - everything will be alright, a warm pacific current comes from Kingston to the Spree-River and wraps everything in a warm green blanket. Jah jah is coming indeed. Bring down Babylon.

Now, you’d better take a firm grasp, because things are getting a little rocky. This is related to the strong breeze on the flipside. Or better: white rush since it is getting more and more paranoid. The first palms are bending before SCHWARZE PUPPEN can be spotted on the riverside, congenially recited from the beast and soul eater himself: Kinski is alive and his pain and frenzy run like acid through the whole track and to the bone. Bones that seem to come from a desecration of a grave in Rotterdam. Unnecessary to mention, that it dances anyway: the skeleton.

Finally, also these battles are won – but the war goes on. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL WARLORDS!!!
